 COUNCIL TO RESUME IN-PERSON MEETINGS
On account of Governor Lee’s Executive Order # 78 expiring on Wednesday, April 28th, 2021, the Knoxville City Council will resume traditional in-person meetings. Below are dates of in-person meetings the City Council and Beer Board will have in the coming weeks. All meetings listed here will be in the Main Assembly Room of the City-County Building, 400 Main Street.

Thursday, April 29th at 5:30 p.m. – City Council Workshop on the Housing and Neighborhood Development Department’s Annual Action Plan
Tuesday, May 4th at 6:00 p.m. – Regular City Council Meeting
Thursday, May 13th beginning at 8:00 a.m. – Legislative Budget Hearings
Friday, May 14th beginning at 11:30 a.m. – Legislative Budget Hearings, 5:00 p.m. public hearing
Tuesday, May 18th at 5:00 p.m. – Regular Beer Board Meeting
Tuesday, May 18th at 6:00 p.m. – Regular City Council Meeting

The public is welcome to attend these meetings. Facemask wearing will be required for the public, staff, and elected officials. Individuals who decline to wear a facemask will be directed to sit in the balcony of the Main Assembly Room. A podium and microphone will be available in the balcony for those who sign-up to speak at public forum.

Seating in the Main Assembly Room has been structured to allow for social distancing as outlined by the Knox County Health Department. The current capacity for the room is as follows:
the Main floor has 69 seats and the Balcony has 41 seats with total room capacity at 110 seats.

Individuals wishing to speak to an item on the City Council agenda or at public forum must appear in-person at the Main Assembly Room. You may call or email the City Recorder’s Office to sign-up to speak at the meeting.

City Council

City Council also acts as Knoxville's Beer Board which regulates beer permits in the City of Knoxville. 

The Beer Board establishes policy and procedure for the issuance of permits to sell beer, and to compel enforcement of the City Code by means of inspectors. Beer permit applicants must appear before the Beer Board for consideration of their request for a beer permit.

The Finance Department is responsible for the beer permit application process for the City Beer Board and liquor-by-the ounce licensing.

Each board meeting meets at 5:00 p.m. in the Main Assembly Room of the City County Building, prior to the second City Council Meeting of each month. View the Beer Board Monthly Meetings Schedule below.

Beer applications may be reviewed at the City Business Tax Office, Room 445-450, City County Building, 400 Main Street from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

City Council serves as the Beer Board. A Chairman is elected from among the members. Councilman Andrew Roberto is the Beer Board Chairman.

Each Council member is elected to serve a four year term.
