City residents can recycle obsolete computers and computer game systems by:

  • Having obsolete equipment picked up at your home through the City and Waste Connection's Bulky Waste program. Bulky waste - no more than five items - are collected at normal garbage pick-up dates.
  • Taking equipment to the Solid Waste Transfer Station, 1033 Elm St., 865-215-6700. Hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and, Friday - 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday - 7 a.m. to 12 Noon. Saturday - 8 a.m. to 12 Noon.
  • Cost: Free for up to two computers at one time for City and Knox County residents.

    REMOVE DATA FROM THE HARD DRIVE:
  • Be sure to erase any data, especailly personal data from hard drives before recycling any computer systems.

    Recycle a ComputerBusinesses with 100 computers or less:

  • Transport to the Solid Waste Transfer Station, 1033 Elm St., 865-215-6700. Hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and, Friday - 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday - 7 a.m. to 12 Noon Saturday - 8 a.m. to 12 Noon.
  • Maximum of 25 computers per month accepted
  • Cost: $7 per monitor; $3 per PC and peripherals including keyboard, mouse, printer.
