Solid Waste Office
The Public Service Dept. crews collect brush and other household yard waste every other week on pre-set, fixed schedules.

Call 3-1-1- for a Brush Collection Schedule.

Yard waste should be placed next to the street in an unobstructed area and kept separate from other trash.

On each two-week cycle, a 6' x 6' x 6' pile of brush can be collected. During the annual fall leaf collection season, brush pick-up is suspended. This runs from Nov. 1 to Feb. 1

If you have an immediate need to dispose of brush or yard waste, call Shamrock Organic Products at 865-524-0109.

Knox County residents can obtain a burning permit, by contacting the Knox County Department of Air Quality Management at 865-215-5900.

Last year the City collected over 33,000 tons of yard waste.

Christmas Trees

Christmas tree collection in the City is the same process as for brush collection. After all decorations have been removed, trees should be placed at the street for collection.

City residents can also take advantage of the County's one day Tree-Cycling program on January 7, 2006. You can take your tree to one of three convenient locations where it will be ground into pine mulch - that you can then take home for free!
