NEWS FROM THE CENTER
This newsletter comes with mixed feelings, both excitement and a little anxiety, as I announce my retirement which is drawing near. I began my career with the City of Knoxville Parks and Recreation over thirty- three years ago. It has been a wonderful career that I have thoroughly enjoyed. However, I've decided that the time has come to switch gears and retire later this fall. I've seen many wonderful changes and partnerships develop throughout my career which I'm very proud to have been a part of. It's really amazing, as I look back, just how much we’ve been able to achieve working together as a team. Throughout the years, I've had the unique opportunity to experiment with so many wonderful art forms. It's been a career that has fulfilled me creatively and challenged me personally. Looking back, my career has been an incredible journey and a blessing that I'll always treasure! I now look forward to teaching a few classes, as well as traveling with my husband, Kent. Throughout the summer I’ll be teaching as usual, so I hope you’ll stop by and see me!
I'm also excited to announce that Elise Murphy will be taking the reins as Interim Director of the art center. Elise has served in the positions as Intern I and Intern II throughout her education at the University of Tennessee, where she majored in art education. She is currently the Art Specialist for the city of Knoxville and does an incredible job! Elise is such a talented and wonderful person, I can't wait to see all the positive changes that the future holds for the craft center under her guidance.
Hope to see you!
