Delinquent Property Taxes


Taxes are due on October 1 and will be considered delinquent and subject to penalty and interest charges of one percent each per month from March 1 of the following year.

Payments by cash, personal check or money order are accepted.

If a receipt is needed, send the tax office both parts of the tax statement and request a receipt. The office sends receipts only if requested.

Property taxes can be paid by mail to P.O. Box 15001, Knoxville, TN 37901-5001 or in person at the downtown Property Tax Office, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, room 450 of the City County Building, 400 Main Street.

Taxes are due October 1 of each tax year and are delinquent the following March 1.

Delinquent Business Taxes

Business licenses expire on the due dates listed, but a 60-day grace period is allowed for reporting gross receipts, paying applicable taxes and purchasing a new license. Penalty and interest accrue as of the delinquent date.

Payments can be made by cash, personal check or money order at the downtown Business Tax Office, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, room 450 of the City County Building, 400 Main Street.
