December 20, 2006 - Knoxville Mayor
Bill Haslam and Police Chief Sterling Owen named Donna Patty and
Jonne Crick the Civilian Employees of the Month for September. Ms.
Patty has been with the department since December 1990 while Ms.
Crick has been with KPD since September 1997.
Chief Owen said Ms. Crick and Ms. Patty are responsible for submitting
Knoxville Police Department crime information to the Tennessee Bureau
of Investigation (TBI) on a monthly basis. More than 2,000 reports
are generated every month. Ms. Patty and Ms. Crick review every
report and complete report supplements for reports that are not
completed correctly.
Nearly two years ago, the decision was made to find ways to reduce
the number of Tennessee Incident Based Reporting System (TIBRS)
errors reported to the TBI each month.
Chief
Owen said, "Donna and Jonne created several different strategies
to improve the reporting process. They conducted training for officers,
sent feedback to supervisors, submitted ideas for newsletter articles,
and helped create a pre-check program for reports. Due to their
hard work, Jonne and Donna were awarded the Outstanding Performance
Award by the TBI. This award represents a less than 0.5% error rate
for all the data submitted during the last year."
Mayor Haslam said, "This achievement represents an outstanding
performance on the part of Donna and Jonne. We commend them for
a job well done."
Ms. Crick and Ms. Patty will receive a signed certificate from the
Mayor and Chief along with a free dinner from Ruby Tuesday Restaurant.
