September 26, 2006 - Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam and Police Chief Sterling Owen named Patricia Nicley the Civilian Employee of the Month for July. Ms. Nicley has been with the department since September 1989.

Mayor Haslam, Honoree, Chief OwenMs. Nicley started her career with the Knoxville Police Department assigned to the Records Unit. In December 1991, she transferred to the Personnel Section. Ms. Nicley is a consistently dedicated and professional employee of the department. Due to recent staffing level reductions in the Personnel Office, she has recently taken on additional duties without complaint or compensation.

Chief Owen said, "Ms. Nicley is polite, respectful, and always has a smile for anyone who crosses her doorway. You can always count on her for a quick pick-me-up either in the form of a smile or a generous helping of chocolate from her never empty candy basket."

"Ms. Nicley is the definition of a professional and dedicated employee," said Chief Owen.

Mayor Haslam said, "Ms. Nicley is an exemplary employee who truly represents the Knoxville Police Department's Operational Philosophy of doing the right thing, treating others as you wish to be treated, and doing your best everyday. We think her for her dedication to the city and to the citizens we serve."

Ms. Nicley will receive a signed certificate from the Mayor and Chief along with a free dinner from Bayou Bay Seafood House.
