Employee Honored for Critical Data Entry Achievement

Civilians of the Month
June 29, 2006 - Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam and Police Chief Sterling Owen named Karen Ellis the May Civilian Employee of the Month. Ms. Ellis has been with the department since May 1992.

Chief Owen said Ms. Ellis is the Terminal Agency Coordinator (TAC) for the department. She is responsible for maintaining the notes and files required for the NCIC Unit. This information is a critical part of the annual audit by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI).

Mayor Haslam, Karen Ellis, Chief OwenChief Owen said, "While auditing the NCIC Missing Person files, Ms. Ellis was commended for excellent entries by the TBI auditor. The auditor found no errors in this file. No errors were found in the NCIC Stolen Vehicle File that resulted in another commendation by the auditor."

Chief Owen said, "Ms. Ellis' knowledge and positive attitude enhances the department's efficiency. We thank her for her hard work and dedication to the department."

Ms. Ellis will receive a signed certificate from the Mayor and Chief along with a free dinner from Bayou Bay Seafood House.
