May 2, 2006 - Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam and Police Chief Sterling Owen named Debbie Moore the Civilian Employee of the Year for the Knoxville Police Department. Ms. Moore has been with the City of Knoxville since February 1979.

Chief Owen said Ms. Moore has worked in several divisions of the police department throughout her career. Currently, she is the Executive Assistant within the Chief's office. Ms. Moore's tasks are always completed within the established timelines, accuracy is never questioned, and she sets personal goals of achievement that she not only meets, but also exceeds. Ms. Moore rarely takes leave and she consistently arrives to work early and leaves late.

Chief Owen, Ms Moore, Mayor HaslamChief Owen said, "Ms. Moore is one of the most well thought of employees at the department. She is sought out on a regular basis to provide either professional assistance or personal support. The support and admiration she commands from employees, both sworn or non-sworn, is unmatched."

Mayor Haslam said, "Ms. Moore has shown a tremendous dedication to her job and to the citizens we serve everyday. She is always enthusiastic, professional, and ready to help with any situation in which she is called upon for assistance. We are grateful for her continued commitment to her job and to the City of Knoxville."

Ms. Moore will receive a signed certificate from the Mayor and Chief along with a free dinner from Ruby Tuesday Restaurant.
