Civilians of the Month
December 29, 2005 - Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam and Police Chief Sterling Owen today named Scott Dickenson the October Civilian Employee of the Month for the Knoxville Police Department. Dickenson is a Crime Analyst and has been with the department since April 1991.

Chief Owen said early this year Scott realized the need for Crime Analysis Units from law enforcement agencies across East Tennessee to share information on crime trends and suspects. Scott notified all law enforcement agencies throughout East Tennessee to explain his thoughts and to invite them to a group meeting.

Mayor Haslam, Scott Dickenson, Chief OwenChief Owen said, "The first meeting, which was held on October 14, 2005, was an unqualified success. Each member left with a contact list, establishment of operating goals for the group, a shared vision, and the establishment of a secure web forum to be used by group members to exchange crime information."

Mayor Haslam said, "Scott took an idea and took it to fruition using his energy and team building skills. His efforts have resulted in an information exchange that will help in our crime reduction goals. Scott is commended for his efforts."

Scott will receive a signed certificate from the Mayor and Chief and a free dinner from Bayou Bay Seafood House.
