The City of Knoxville along with the Metropolitan Planning Commission and Knoxville’s Community Development Corporation held a public meeting Tuesday, July 8, on planned improvements for the Downtown North/I-275 Redevelopment area. The next meeting is set for July 22.

The Downtown North Public Meeting was held July 8th with over 150 people in attendance.

The city presented information on a number of fronts all directed at revitalizing the commercial and residential areas just north of downtown Knoxville.

As stated by Bill Lyons the “goal is to move from disinvestment to reinvestment” The largest segment of the program was devoted to a presentation by MPC staff on the development of a mixed use community built around a road diet and form based codes.

Comments on the proposals varied but the clear majority supported the concepts and want the process to proceed. Please CLICK HERE to review written comments that were received.

A follow up meeting will be held on July 22nd once again at the Knox County Health Department on Dameron Avenue at 5:30 in the evening.
