Third Creek Greenway History

The Third Creek Greenway was started in the early 70’s and was initiated by the American Heart Association’s drive for a two-mile bike trail. The Knoxville Community Development Corporation took on the project and developed the initial trail that ran from the University of Tennessee apartments almost to Painter Avenue. In the fall of 1993, another one and a half miles were added from Neyland Drive to Tyson Park. Since that time, the greenway has grown much larger.
