SAFETY CITY KNOXVILLE
Safety City
Safety City Why-Who-What
KPD Safety Education
Here is a list of events the Knoxville Police Department will sponsor at Safety City:

Safety Fairs - children in grades 1-5 are targeted to participate in various traffic-related safety skill stations with an emphasis in bike safety. These events are usually scheduled for May and September. They are scheduled for Saturday, April 28 and Saturday Sept. 29, 2012.

Halloween in the City is now known as Halloween in the Plaza - this event has been moved to the Mary Costa Plaza at the Knoxville Coliseum. Families will come to "trick or treat" at Mary Costa Plaza. Last year, Safety City sponsors and city departments sponsored trick or treat booths with a game or activity. About 100,000 pieces of candy were handed out, as well as carnival-type trinkets. In addition, we had a magician, clowns, inflatable and carnival games, karaoke, a costume contest, snow cones, cotton candy, hot dogs and drinks. About 6,500 people came to this three-hour event. This year's event will be held on Monday, October 31, 2011 at Mary Costa Plaza at the Knoxville Coliseum at 500 Howard Baker Jr. Avenue, Knoxville, TN. 37915.

Summer Hours - Beginning Thursday, June 9, 2011 Safety City will be open to the public on Mondays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. These special public hours/days will only be in effect thru the months of June and July. Families may bring their own bikes with helmets, battery-powered cars, non-motorized scooters (no skateboards), doll buggies or walking shoes to Safety City to have open riding and play. Safety City will be open as a park on these days. There are two playgrounds with picnic areas adjacent to Safety City: one toddler and one designed for children ages 5-9. SAFETY CITY WILL BE CLOSED ON MONDAY, JULY 4, 2011.
