The Records Section maintains criminal history files on anyone arrested by the department, with a current total of 145,800 files. In addition, the section maintains all traffic accident reports (approximately 12,000 per year) and all crime reports, which number more than 24,000 a year and 18,000 arrest reports.

Copies of traffic accident reports or crime reports investigated by city police officers are available at a cost of $10.00 each. Criminal records checks are available at a cost of $5 each, accompanied by a picture identification. All other reports are $5.00. The Records Section is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
