OFFICERS OF THE YEAR Cold Case Investigator and Officer Responsible for Multiple DUI Arrests Share Officer of the Year Honor Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero and Police Chief David Rausch named Cold Case Investigator Jeff Day and Patrol Officer Jeff Green the 2012 Co-Officers of the Year for the Knoxville Police Department. Investigator Day has been with the department since December 1998 while Officer Green has been with KPD since August 2008. [NEWS RELEASE] KPD EXPLORER OF THE YEAR Explorer Earns Special Honors for Commitment to the Department Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero and Police Chief David Rausch named Knoxville Police Department Explorer Colby Chandler the 2012 Explorer of the Year. Explorer Chandler has been with the department since June 2010. Officer Jinks has been with KPD since May 1999 while Officer Wallace has been with the department since March 2005. [NEWS RELEASE] OCTOBER OFFICER OF THE MONTH Significant Drug Arrest Nets Officer Special Award Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero and Police Chief David Rausch named Knoxville Police Department Officer Christopher Hutton the October Officer of the Month for the department. Officer Hutton has been with KPD since July 2011. [NEWS RELEASE] OFFICERS OF THE MONTH Officers Honored In October, Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero and Police Chief David Rausch named Officer Brian Mullane, Officer Joey Whitehead and Lieutenant Cheri Matlock as Officers of the Month for July, August and September 2012. Lieutenant Gene Sasscer was given a Meritorious Service Medal to recognize him for his years of leadership. KPD Honors Two Officers with Medal of Merit Awards Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero and Police Chief David Rausch presented the Medal of Merit award to Knoxville Police Department Officers Andrew Keith and Steve Taylor for their heroic actions in saving the life of Tennessee Highway Patrol Sgt. Lowell Russell. [NEWS RELEASE] JUNE OFFICER OF THE MONTH Officer Honored For Investigation Leading to Arrest of Robbery and Kidnapping Suspect Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero and Police Chief David Rausch named Officer Robert Satterfield the June Officer of the Month for the Knoxville Police Department. Officer Satterfield has been with KPD since September 2009. [NEWS RELEASE] MAY OFFICERS OF THE MONTH Investigation of Triple Fatal Hit & Run Earns Honors for Three Officers Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero and Police Chief David Rausch named Sgt. Tracy Hunter, Officer Greg Womac, and Officer Sandra Reynolds the May Officers of the Month for the Knoxville Police Department. Chief Rausch said that on May 30, 2012, Sgt. Hunter and Officer Womac were called out to reconstruct a fatal hit & run crash on Washington Pike that claimed the lives of two pedestrians and an unborn infant child. Ray Offenbacher the April Officer of the Month for the Knoxville Police Department. Sgt. Offenbacher has been with KPD since March 1995. Officer McVay has been with the department since March 2005.
