The Family Crimes Unit handles a variety of cases relating to child abuse, domestic violence, and the elderly. The unit provides services to domestic violence victims ranging from safety planning, Order of Protection assistance, case investigation, and preparation for prosecution. The unit investigates the physical and/or sexual abuse of persons under the age of eighteen. In addition, the unit handles all missing persons cases, whether it involves a juvenile runaway or an adult.

These services are provided at the Family Justice Center (400 Harriet Tubman Street), which provides a non-threatening environment where victims and their families can feel safe. The Family Justice Center, which has been in operation since 2006, is supported by more than sixty partner agencies and is the gateway to our community's resources for victims.
