One of the functions of the Family Crimes Unit is to assist victims of domestic violence. The unit’s goal is to provide comprehensive services for victims and further investigation of reports in order to hold offenders accountable. The unit provides services ranging from safety planning, crisis intervention, Order of Protection assistance, community referrals, support groups, case analysis, preparation for prosecution and civil/criminal court advocacy.

All of these services are provided at the Family Justice Center (400 Harriet Tubman Street). The Family Justice Center, which has been in operation since May 2006, is supported by more than sixty partner agencies and is the gateway to our community’s resources for victims. Community accountability and awareness is being accomplished by joining with area service providers, organizations, courts and the business community in creating the Family Justice Center, which provides a non-threatening environment where victims and their families can feel safe. The phone number for the Family Justice Center is 865-521-6336.
