David B. Rausch was sworn in as the 25th Chief of Police of Knoxville, Tennessee on March 25, 2011. The Knoxville Police Department (KPD) is an accredited 530 person department responsible for the protection and safety of the citizens and visitors to the city.
Prior to becoming Police Chief, Rausch served as Deputy Chief of Police assigned to the Patrol Division as the Patrol Commander for KPD. He has been a member of the Knoxville Police Department with a combined twenty-two years of law enforcement experience in Military and Civilian Law Enforcement and fourteen years in supervisory and command positions.
