Volunteer Work Earns Reserve Officer Special
Honors
Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam and Police Chief Sterling Owen today named
Reserve Officer Gary Cinnamon the 2006 Knoxville Police Department's
Reserve Officer of the Year. Officer Cinnamon retired from KPD in
April 2000 after serving more than 25 years as an officer.

Officer Robert (Bobby) Solomon the Knoxville Police Department's 2006

Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam and Police Chief Sterling Owen today awarded
the department's Life Saving Award to Officer Josh Hurst, Officer
Brandon Glover, and Officer Eric Heitz. Officer Hurst has been with
the department since November 2003. Officer Glover has been an officer
for KPD since October 2004 while Officer Heitz has been with the department
since May 2005.

Saving Award

the department's Life Saving Award to Lt. Bob Wooldridge. Lt. Wooldridge
has been with the Knoxville Police Department since November 1981.

Officer and Citizen Awarded Life Saving Award
For Saving Drowning Victim
Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam and Police Chief Sterling Owen today awarded
the department's Life Saving Award to Officer Chas Terry. Officer
Terry has been with the Knoxville Police Department since March 2005.
Chief Owen said that on August 30, 2006 at approximately 8:10 p.m.,
Officer Terry was investigating a vehicle crash on Kennesaw Drive.
As Officer Terry was completing the investigation he heard a woman
screaming for help. Officer Terry immediately responded to her plea.
The distraught woman was screaming that her son was at the bottom
of their pool.

Brad Boruff and Officer John Williams the Officers of the Month for
July. Officer Boruff has been with the department since November 2003.

Officer and Evidence Technician Honored With
Lifesaving Award
Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam and Police Chief Sterling Owen awarded
the department's Lifesaving Award to Officer Rhett Carter and Sr.
Evidence Technician Tim Kesterson. Officer Carter has been with the
department since October 2001. Evidence Technician Kesterson joined
the department in August 2001.
Chief Owen said that on July 9 at approximately 2:11 a.m. Officer Carter and Evidence Tech Kesterson had responded to a North Knoxville residence to investigate an attempted rape. While they were processing the crime scene they heard a loud crash and turned to see that the victim had passed out. The victim was not breathing and did not have a pulse. Officer Carter immediately called for an ambulance while Technician Kesterson prepared to start CPR. Officer Carter and Technician Kesterson performed two-man CPR until the ambulance arrived. The victim was transported to the hospital where she gained consciousness.

Investigator Richard Giammarino and Cadet Zach Wilson for their quick
action in the arrest of a burglary suspect. Investigator Giammarino
has been with the department since November 1986. Zach Wilson has
been a Cadet since October 2005.
