RESERVE OFFICER OF THE YEAR Volunteer Work Earns Reserve Officer Special Honors Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam and Police Chief Sterling Owen today named Reserve Officer Gary Cinnamon the 2006 Knoxville Police Department's Reserve Officer of the Year. Officer Cinnamon retired from KPD in April 2000 after serving more than 25 years as an officer. [NEWS RELEASE] OFFICER OF THE YEAR Consistent Job Quality and Performance Earns Officer Special Honors Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam and Police Chief Sterling Owen today named Officer Robert (Bobby) Solomon the Knoxville Police Department's 2006 Officer of the Year. Officer Solomon has been with the Knoxville Police Department since November 1986 and is currently the Property Manager of the Property Unit. Officer Jinks has been with the Knoxville Police Department since May 1999. [NEWS RELEASE] LIFE SAVING AWARD WINNERS Officers Honored With Life Saving Award Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam and Police Chief Sterling Owen today awarded the department's Life Saving Award to Officer Josh Hurst, Officer Brandon Glover, and Officer Eric Heitz. Officer Hurst has been with the department since November 2003. Officer Glover has been an officer for KPD since October 2004 while Officer Heitz has been with the department since May 2005. Bob Wooldridge. Lt. Wooldridge has been with the Knoxville Police Department since November 1981. Officer Boruff has been with the department since November 2003. Officer Glover and Officer Moore have been with KPD since October 2004 while Officer Williams has been with the department since August 2000. [NEWS RELEASE] 2006 LIFESAVING AWARD LIST: Rhett Carter Brandon Glover Eric Heitz Josh Hurst Tim Kesterson Ron Linkins Phil Major Chas Terry David Wilson (citizen) Bob Wooldridge	Life Saving Award Winner Officer and Citizen Awarded Life Saving Award For Saving Drowning Victim Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam and Police Chief Sterling Owen today awarded the department's Life Saving Award to Officer Chas Terry. Officer Terry has been with the Knoxville Police Department since March 2005. Chief Owen said that on August 30, 2006 at approximately 8:10 p.m., Officer Terry was investigating a vehicle crash on Kennesaw Drive. As Officer Terry was completing the investigation he heard a woman screaming for help. Officer Terry immediately responded to her plea. The distraught woman was screaming that her son was at the bottom of their pool. [NEWS RELEASE] JULY OFFICERS OF THE MONTH Robbery Investigation Results In Award For Officers Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam and Police Chief Sterling Owen named Officer Brad Boruff and Officer John Williams the Officers of the Month for July. Officer Boruff has been with the department since November 2003. Officer Williams has been with KPD since August 2000. [NEWS RELEASE] OFFICERS RECEIVE LIFESAVING AWARD Officer and Evidence Technician Honored With Lifesaving Award Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam and Police Chief Sterling Owen awarded the department's Lifesaving Award to Officer Rhett Carter and Sr. Evidence Technician Tim Kesterson. Officer Carter has been with the department since October 2001. Evidence Technician Kesterson joined the department in August 2001. Chief Owen said that on July 9 at approximately 2:11 a.m. Officer Carter and Evidence Tech Kesterson had responded to a North Knoxville residence to investigate an attempted rape. While they were processing the crime scene they heard a loud crash and turned to see that the victim had passed out. The victim was not breathing and did not have a pulse. Officer Carter immediately called for an ambulance while Technician Kesterson prepared to start CPR. Officer Carter and Technician Kesterson performed two-man CPR until the ambulance arrived. The victim was transported to the hospital where she gained consciousness. [NEWS RELEASE] JUNE OFFICERS OF THE MONTH Officer and Cadet Honored For Quick Action and Arrest of Burglary Suspect Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam and Police Chief Sterling Owen today honored Investigator Richard Giammarino and Cadet Zach Wilson for their quick action in the arrest of a burglary suspect. Investigator Giammarino has been with the department since November 1986. Zach Wilson has been a Cadet since October 2005.
