Reserve Officer Shows Volunteer Spirit

Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam and Police Chief Sterling Owen named Reserve
Officer Matt Rader as the department's 2004 Reserve Officer of the
Year. Reserve Officer Rader has been a member of the Reserve Unit
for two years. During 2004, Officer Rader volunteered over 600 hours
of his time to the Knoxville Police Department.

Officers Honored with Life Saving Award for
Rescuing Trapped Victim

Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam and Police Chief Sterling Owen today awarded
the department's Life Saving Award to Officer Todd Strickenberger
and Officer Mike Rupe for saving the life of a trapped accident victim.
Both Officer Strickenberger and Officer Rupe have been with the department
since May 2002. Chief Owen said that on November 6, 2004, officers
Strickenberger and Rupe heard a vehicle crash occur near Middlebrook
Pike and Loraine Street. Both officers responded to the scene immediately.

Counterfeiting Suspects Arrest Yields Officer
of the Month Honors for Three Officers

Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam and Police Chief Sterling Owen today awarded
the December Officer of the Month Award to Officer Todd Hardin, Officer
Charles Sands, and Officer Brian Bush for their apprehension of two
counterfeiting suspects. Officer Hardin has been with the department
since August 1998. Officer Sands and Officer Bush have been with KPD

Robbery Investigation Nets Two Officers with
Special Honors
Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam and Police Chief Phil Keith today named
officers Bradley Cox and John Williams as the January Officers of
the Month. Both Officer Cox and Williams have been with the department
since August 2000. On January 19, 2004, at approximately 3:42 a.m.,
Officer Cox and Officer Williams responded to an armed robbery call
at the Krystal Restaurant located at 5320 Millertown Pike. The victims
did not see a getaway car, but a witness from the neighboring Wal-Mart
store indicated they had seen a small white Honda car in poor condition
parked behind the Krystal just prior to the robbery.
