KPD Announces Labor Day Weekend Traffic Enforcement Plans

Knoxville Police Chief Sterling Owen announced traffic enforcement plans for the Labor Day holiday weekend. The specialized traffic enforcement effort will being 4:00 p.m. on Friday, September 3, 2010, and conclude at Midnight on Monday, September 6, 2010.

The Knoxville Police Department's Law Enforcement Training Academy is scheduled for an on-site assessment as part of a program to achieve accreditation by verifying it meets professional standards.
Administered by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA), the accreditation program requires academies to comply with state-of-the-art standards in four basic areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations, and support services.
