When anyone in the corporate limits of the City of Knoxville should experience a life-threatening medical emergency, the closest fire department unit will respond to provide a minimum of pre-hospital basic life support. Trained KFD personnel provide advanced and basic life support for stabilizing victims until the ambulance arrives for transport to a health care facility.
