There will be a public hearing to consider a proposal for a variety of fare increases and the introduction of new farebox technology, on Thursday, October 23, 2008 at the regular monthly meeting of the Knoxville Transportation Authority (KTA). The hearing will be held at 3 p.m. in the Main Assembly Room of the City County Building.

Highlights of Fare Proposal Changes:
New 30-day passes can be validated at any time during the month; current monthly passes can only start from the first day of the calendar month.

Express routes would not accept other proposed fare media (30-day passes, 7-day passes, UT semester passes, etc.) |
Transfer charge would increase from $.20 to $.50 |
7-day passes would equate to unlimited rides for seven consecutive days from the day the pass is validated in the farebox. |
One-day passes would provide unlimited rides from the time the pass is validated in the farebox until midnight that evening. |
If approved, the rate changes would take effect on January 20, 2009.
