Ride KAT for free when air quality in the
region reaches unhealthy levels.
This summer,
when the media announces an Air Quality Alert of Orange, Red or Purple, just leave the car at home and hop aboard a KAT bus...Fare-Free!
To help promote a healthier environment for everyone, when the Air Quality is at an Orange or higher level, KAT operates all services free of charge--regular fixed-route services, Express routes and the LIFT.
Note: You must be certified by KAT, and already have a trip scheduled in order to ride the LIFT.
To find out if there is an Orange Alert Day (or higher), you can:
Call KAT at 637-3000 or visit us online at www.katbus.com |
Visit the WBIR website or any other local news website or listen to the evening news broadcast. |
Listen to WUTK (90.3 The Rock) for Air Quality Alert/KAT Fare-Free announcements (other local radio stations may also announce air quality alert days). |
Sign up for the Weather Alerts from WBIR and get notified automatically when there is an Air Quality Alert day of Orange or higher! To sign up, just go to the WBIR Text Alerts sign-up page, enter your information and select either the "Severe Weather Alert" for Knox County or the "Daily Weather Forecast. " |
