The Neighborhood Small Grants Program (NSGP) strengthens neighborhoods in the City  of Knoxville by supporting a wide range of community-based initiatives through grants and technical assistance.

The program is aimed at resident-controlled, resident-led neighborhood groups such as neighborhood watch groups, neighborhood associations, tenant associations, and homeowners associations.

To learn more about grant opportunities for neighborhoods, there are two workshops set up:
Thursday, Jan. 31, 5:30 p.m., Public Works Building, 3131 Morris Ave.
Saturday, Feb. 2, 10 a.m., Public Works Building, 3131 Morris Ave.

The 2020 Grant Application and 2020 Grant Guidelines will be available here on January 31, 2019.

The schedule is as follows:

March 2019: There will be a Grant Ideas Workshop in March 2019 to help any neighborhood organization come up with unique ideas for their group.  Check back for date, time, and location.

May and June 2019: Neighborhood groups intending to apply for a grant must send a representative to a mandatory pre-application workshop. Attendance at one of these three workshops is mandatory in order to apply for the grant:

Thursday, May 30, 2019, 6 p.m.
Wednesday, June 5, 2019, 6 p.m.
Saturday, June 8, 2019, 10 a.m.

If a representative from your neighborhood does not attend one of the three workshops listed above, your neighborhood organization will not be eligible to apply.

Monday, July 29, 2019: Applications are due. See documents for details.

August/September 2019: Members of a citizens evaluation committee, composed of current and former neighborhood leaders, conduct site visits to learn more about each applicant's proposed project.

Fourth Quarter 2019: Recommendations announced, City Council consideration, contracts signed, and checks issued for projects that will be carried out during calendar year 2020.
