The meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 13, 2010, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at First Church of God, located at 6708 Westland Drive. Preliminary plans will be on display for public review. Staff from the Department of Engineering as well as the design engineers, Vaughn & Melton, will be available to answer questions and receive comments. The proposed project includes the widening of two narrow bridges on Westland Drive. The first located at Craigland Court and the second near the waterwheel on Sherwood Drive. Both bridges lack adequate lane widths and shoulders for vehicular safety on Westland Drive. The project also includes approximately 1000 feet of upstream channel improvements with driveway culvert replacements from the bridge near Craigland Court. In addition, improvements to Westland Drive near Rotherwood Drive in order to provide a roadway shoulder and relocate an adjacent drainage ditch away from the westbound travel lane are included in the project plans.
