About the Summit
The Downtown Summit on September 16 at the Radisson Hotel in Knoxville provided information on the Mayor's and city's approach to downtown and the status of special projects as well as provided an opportunity for city officials to hear suggestions and answer questions on a wide variety of issues and concerns to those who live, work and play downtown. Following the address by Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam, break-out sessions relating to Quality of Life, Downtown Development, Major Public Projects, and Special Events & Tourism were held. City representatives and partner agencies led discussions and answered questions.

Mayor Haslam names Downtown Advisory Committee
Mayor Bill Haslam announced the appointment of a Downtown Advisory Committee that will aid him in creating a strategy for continuous improvements to the heart of the city. The committee will capitalize on the recommendations of urban planners Crandall Arambula, the firm retained by Nine Counties. One Vision to create a design framework for downtown.
