The City of Knoxville grants funds to housing organizations for construction of new affordable housing. These organizations include four community housing development organizations (CHDO).
East Tennessee Housing Development Corporation (ETHDC) - 865-525-1177
ETHDC is committed to building decent, affordable homes in the heart of Knoxville, with a focus in the Lonsdale community. ETHDC began construction as a CHDO after its certification in 2006.
KHP works to enhance communities through quality housing and building wealth through homeownership. Services include new construction of affordable homes, homebuyer education, financial assistance, and renovation of existing properties.
The mission of NHI is to promote healthy neighborhoods by providing good quality, affordable housing for low and moderate-income families. Strategies for this goal include minor home repair services and construction of new affordable homes, with financial assistance to purchasers.
Tennessee Conference Community Development Corporation (TCCDC) - 865-524-4417
TCCDC’s People Helping People Housing Development Initiative works to revitalize communities and empower residents to take ownership of decent, safe, and affordable homes in the neighborhoods where they live. The two primary strategies are through homeownership education and construction of new affordable housing stock.
This new home was a project of the Knox Housing Partnership and was built by the Knoxville-Knox County Community Action Committee.
