About Our Neighborhood We have started a Community Library, Computer Room and Job Search programs. The Friends of Literacy and MVRA have partnered to create a pilot program to help residents obtain a G.E.D. Also we have partnered with the Montgomery Village Ministries, Montgomery Village Baptist Center, Boys and Girls Clubs of America, and the Knoxville Community Development Corporation. Members work together to make Montgomery Village a better place to live. MVRA's services and activities include: ** Festivals during the spring and fall. ** Programs for the children during the summer break from school. (One summer program is about photography. The picture taking has led to articles in the Metro Pulse newspaper and showings at A1LabArts art gallery in Knoxville's Old City.) ** Residents can do job search though on-line computers that are donated. ** Help with community projects residents are required to do per HUD rules. ** Help in Neighborhood Watch to cut down crime. ** Library for all residents to use for school, and for furthering their education, including a G.E.D. to help in bettering oneself to achieve a better way of life. ** Community beautification to enhance the neighborhood. ** Food Pantries in the time of hardships.
