REGAL Celebration of Lights
6:00 p.m. along Gay Street at Krutch Park
"Regal Celebration of Lights" lives up to its name as one of the most
exciting events of Christmas in the City. On the day after Thanksgiving
everyone gathers along Gay Street at Krutch Park for the lighting
of the 38' First Tennessee Foundation Christmas Tree. Gay Street is
decorated with beautiful wreaths and banners. Krutch Park resembles
a winter wonderland with thousands of white lights glistening from
the trees. Local bands and choruses will provide entertainment; WDVX
will be bringing the Holiday Ho-Ho-Hoedown to the Market Square Stage,
the Cherryholmes and Logan Murrell will perform. Seven time winner
of the County Music Association station of the year, WIVK, will be
providing up and coming talent to lead the crowd in Christmas Carols.
Also, Holidays on Ice, Knoxville's only outdoor ice skating rink,
returns for its third year. You will enjoy walking around the "Christmas
Market" where local crafters come together with the Market Square
merchants to assist in your holiday shopping. Horse-drawn carriage
rides are always a treat and you can keep warm at the fire pit roasting
marshmallows while you wait. You can visit with Santa and decorate
cookies with Mrs. Claus and don't forget storytime with the Mayor
as he reads Twas the Night Before Christmas.
