KNOX COUNTY TAX EQUALIZATION BOARD
The Knox County Tax Equalization Board serves as board of appeals for property owners who disagree with the tax assessment issued by the Knox County Property Assessor's Office. Appointments for a hearing are made through the Knox County Property Assessor's Office, Room 204, City County Building, phone number 865-215-2360.
Appointment of Board Members
The board consists of five members serving two-year terms. Two members are appointed by the Mayor and subject to confirmation by City Council and three members are appointed by the Knox County Commission. Appointments are made in April of each even year.
Meetings Schedule
Hearings begin the first working day of June each year and continue through the last working day of June. Hearings are in the Old Court House from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
