By its charter, the Metropolitan Drug Commission is a private, non-profit corporation partially funded by local government. The mission of the Metropolitan Drug Commission of the City of Knoxville and Knox County is to mobilize all segments of our community to individually reject and, as a community, eliminate the illegal use and abuse of alcohol and other drugs. The affairs, business and property of the Metropolitan Drug Commission is managed and controlled by the Board of Directors.
Appointment of Board Members
The Board consists of up to forty-eight members. Twelve directors are permanent members due to the public office they hold. Other members are from Knoxville, Knox County and surrounding metropolitan counties representing their community, businesses, religious groups and media. These members are elected by the community and business leaders and serve a three-year term.
