The Community Health Council is partnering with the Knox County Health Department to ask for opinions from Knox County residents about health and quality of life in our community with an anonymous online survey. Survey results will help decide how health improvement resources need to be used. Share your thoughts!

The Community Health Council (CHC) is charged with supporting and steering health improvement initiatives in Knoxville, Knox County and the Town of Farragut.

Specifically, the Community Health Council:

  • Supports and steers a health improvement process in Knox County, including the City of Knoxville and the Town of Farragut, with facilitation and support from the Knox County Health Department.
  • Assesses and evaluates health, the perception of health, the performance of the local public health system, and future conditions relating to health in Knox County, the City of Knoxville and the Town of Farragut.
  • Establishes strategic objectives for improving health in Knox County, the City of Knoxville and the Town of Farragut.
  • Promulgates goals and objectives for the local public health system in Knox County, the City of Knoxville and the Town of Farragut in the form of an action plan every three years.
  • Communicates assessment results and action plans to community partners, the public, and the organizations and agencies of the local public health system.
  • Acts as a forum for discussion and coordination of community-wide efforts to improve health outcomes and local public health system function in Knox County,
  • Acts as an advisory body to elected and appointed officials in Knox County, the City of Knoxville and the Town of Farragut in matters of health.
  • Appointment of Committee Members
    The Community Health Council can have up to twenty-one (21) members. The City Mayor and City Council each appoint one member to the Council. Members of the Council serve three (3) year terms.
    Meeting Schedule
    The CHC meets the first Thursday of every month from 7:30-9:30 a.m. at Cansler Family YMCA at 616 Jessamine Street.
