PUBLIC ART COMMITTEE
Public Arts Task Force
The City of Knoxville Public Art committee was created in September 2008. The purpose of the committee is "to enhance the reputation of the community, contribute to the civic environment, and enrich the lives of citizens and visitors through the involvement of professional artists to integrate public artwork throughout the City."
Appointment of Committee Members
The committee consists of seven members, six of whom are appointed by the Mayor. At least two of the members must be visual artists, while the remaining members must have specific professional expertise in public art or the visual arts. Additionally, at least one member of the committee must be a City Council member. This member is appointed by the Vice Mayor. All members serve three-year terms and must be confirmed by City Council.
