The City of Knoxville Pension Board consists of seven members: four elected employee representatives, the Mayor, the Finance Director, and a City Council representative.
Non-Uniformed Employees
Employees hired in eligible positions with the City are required to participate in Plan G Option 1 beginning on the first day of the month following the completion of six months of employment with the City.
Employee Contributions: 6% of regular bi-weekly salary (does not include overtime); 6% of longevity pay; 6% of any bonus paid;
Employer's Contributions: Amount determined actuarially to fully fund benefit
Uniformed Employees
Regular employees of the uniformed bodies of the City commonly referred to as policeman or fireman participate in Plan C beginning on the first day of the month following the completion of six months of employment with the City.
Employee Contributions: 6% of regular bi-weekly salary (does not include overtime); 6% of longevity pay; 6% of holiday pay; 6% of first responder supplement; 6% of any bonus; 6% of the insurance supplement (only employees hired prior to 1/1988). Maximum of 30 years contributions.
Employer's Contributions: Amount determined actuarially to fully fund benefit.
