The Risk/Benefits Manager is designated as the City's Director of Occupational Health and Safety. The Risk Coordinator reports to the Risk/Benefits Manager and oversees the safety program as well as administration of workers compensation, liability claims and other aspects of property and casualty. The Safety Inspector reports to the Risk Coordinator. In addition, various departments also have positions dedicated to safety within the department.

The City has a written agreement with the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development for the City to self-enforce safety regulations. That document also functions as an Executive Order implementing the City's safety program.

The City contracts with Summit Medical Group to provide on-site medical services. This contract provides for on-site expertise in physical therapy, ergonomics, industrial rehabilitation, fitness and health/chronic disease coaching. The expertise works with the safety staff and departments in injury prevention strategies.
