| May 8, 2014 - It's another spring weekend loaded up with events - ranging from a business celebrating its silver anniversary to a 5K run to free music and a farmers' market on Market Square.
On Friday, May 9, Robin Easter Design, 132 W. Jackson Ave., will be celebrating its 25th anniversary with a client appreciation party to be held in the agency's parking lot on State Street.
Saturday's Blank Fest on Market Square, featuring Moon Taxi and a free outdoor show, is a celebration of good things, hosted by Blank newspaper. Wristbands are $6 for admittance into all participating venues; all Market Square bands are free.
Also happening on Saturday: The weekly Market Square Farmers' Market and the Law Enforcement 5K, a memorial run honoring fallen officers and benefiting the Fraternal Order of Police Fund.
The multiple events taking place in or near downtown will mean some temporary road closures:
Friday, May 9
Robin Easter Design's 25th Anniversary Event
State Street between 111 State Street and Jackson Avenue will be closed, 8 a.m.-midnight.
Saturday, May 10
Market Square Farmers' Market
Market Street between Union Avenue and Clinch Avenue will be closed, 7 a.m.-3 p.m.
Union Avenue between Gay Street and Walnut Street will be closed, 7 a.m.-3 p.m.
In addition, there will be temporary no-parking zones in effect on Market Street and Union Avenue to accommodate the Farmers' Market, beginning at 5 a.m. Saturday.
Market Street between Union Avenue and Clinch Avenue will be closed, 3-10 p.m.
Union Avenue between Gay Street and Walnut Street will be closed, 3-10 p.m.
Wall Avenue between Gay Street and Walnut Street will be closed, 4-10 p.m.
Temporary no-parking zones are in effect on all three streets beginning at 5 a.m. for Market Street and Union Avenue and starting at 2 p.m. for Wall Avenue.
Law Enforcement 5K
Neyland Drive's eastbound and westbound lanes between Walnut Street and Joe Johnson Drive will be closed from 7:15-10 a.m. Saturday.
