City, County to Hold Joint 9/11 Memorial Observance
August 30, 2013 - The City of Knoxville and Knox County will hold a joint 9/11 Memorial Service to honor those who lost their lives during the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11th, 2001. The 12th anniversary observance will be held at 8:35 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11th, in front of the City County Building, 400 Main Street.

Sept. 11 Ceremony in Knoxville
There will be a partial closure of the eastbound lane of Main Street nearest the sidewalk. The ceremony will be led by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, the Knoxville Police Department and the Knoxville Fire Department.

A moment of silence will be held and the names of three victims with local ties to East Tennessee will be read. First Baptist Church will ring bells during the observance.
