Free HAM Radio Class this Fall
August 26, 2013 - The Middle East Tennessee Emergency Radio Service (METERS) is sponsoring a free HAM radio class this fall.

HAM radio allows users to communicate even when there is no electricity or land lines and cell phones don't operate. The technique is used to communicate during emergencies or natural disasters.

The classes will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday nights Sept. 19 through Nov. 21 at the Tennessee College of Applied Technology Center, 1100 Liberty Street, Knoxville.

The classes are free, but a class manual is $30.

There is a $10 testing fee due at the last class. To register, send email to training@metersinc.org or call 865-710-5231.

For more information about METERS, visit www.metersinc.org. Deadline to register is Sept. 12.
