ACE Accelerator Seminars to Focus on Government Contracting
More Info on Seminars [PDF]
August 9, 2012 - The City of Knoxville's Equal Business Opportunity Program, the Tennessee Small Business Development Center (TSBDC) and The University of Tennessee Center for Industrial Services, Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC), are sponsoring three advanced government contracting seminars.

Businesses will learn about new opportunities in Knoxville and the surrounding counties, which will assist them in diversifying and growing their companies. The seminar series is aimed toward professional service firms, construction businesses, engineering firms and SBA 8a Businesses.

The seminars, which will be held at The Foundry, 747 World's Fair Park Drive, in Knoxville, are provided under Roane State Community College's ACE Accelerator project. The program is designed to further develop the composite material/carbon fiber cluster in East Tennessee, and to establish the region as the nation's epicenter for low-cost composite material/carbon fiber.

This strategic focus will help support national energy efforts through the development of light-weight and low-cost materials to the energy sector, transportation sector and other industries. The ACE Accelerator is jointly funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration, the U.S. Department of Commerce's Economic Development Administration, and the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Workshop dates are:

  • Aug. 28th and 29th. Topic: "Proposal Preparation and Government Contract Negotiations."
  • Sept. 26th focuses on "Governmental Price Proposal Basics."
  • And Oct. 3rd with training on "Proposal Writing for Government Contracts."

To register and learn more about the seminars, visit http://www.roanestate.edu/?8121-TSBDC-Training. Seating is limited to 50 persons per seminar. Contact Paul Middlebrooks, paul.middlebrooks@tennessee.edu, 423-634-0848 or Jutta Bangs, jbangs@tsbdc.org for additional seminar information.
