KUB Construction Extends Third Creek Greenway/Tyson Park Closures and Detours
View Closure/Detour Map [PDF]
February 10, 2012 - Ongoing KUB construction activities will extend the closures and detours along sections of the Third Creek Greenway route through portions of the University of Tennessee Agriculture campus, alongside the UT Rugby Field, and intermittently in Tyson Park until mid-April 2012.

The replacement of 2,100 feet of wastewater trunkline in this area has been completed, and landscape restoration work is underway along Third Creek.

Excavation work will continue in the area through this spring as KUB and its contractor complete the installation of approximately 10,000 feet of natural gas pipeline.

Below is a listing of closures and detours in this area:

  • Third Creek Greenway remains closed between Joe Johnson Drive and trail underpass at Kingston Pike; trail detoured via Volunteer Boulevard and Tyson Park Street
  • UT Rugby Field closed
  • Tyson Park accessible via Concord Street entrance
  • Tyson Park will be accessible on April 1, 2012, for the Knoxville Marathon

NOTE: The scope and duration of all closures and detours in this area are subject to change due to weather and other factors that may impact construction.

Signs will be placed at regular intervals along the greenway to indicate the detour route. Barricades will be placed at each location to clearly indicate the section of trail that is closed.
