America Recycles Day in Knoxville Nov. 12
November 10, 2011 - America Recycles Day in Knoxville will be held on Saturday, November 12th from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., at the West Town Mall parking lot (Morrell Road side). This year's theme is "Environmental Information & Participation!"

City of Knoxville and Knox County residents may bring old or unwanted documents to be confidentially shredded and recycled by Goodwill. There is no limit to how many documents residents can bring. Items may include old tax documents, billing statements, receipts or any other paper document that needs secure disposal. All documents will be securely transported the shredding facility.

Knoxville TVA Employees Credit Union will be on hand to provide free information on how long old documents should be kept and when it is appropriate to dispose of them.

Other events and information provided on site include:

  • Unwanted Unused Medication Collection
  • Used Mercury Thermometer Exchange
  • In home recycling bin giveaways (while supplies last)
  • Keeping communities clean
  • Water quality
  • Curbside recycling
  • Medic

    These events are sponsored by the City of Knoxville and Knox County Solid Waste Offices, Keep Knoxville Beautiful, the Knoxville Recycling Coalition, Waste Connections, Alcoa, Waste Connections, Knoxville TVA Employees Credit Union, Knology, Keep Blount Beautiful, TV CH-10, West Town Mall, Medic, Knox County Air Quality, Alcoa, Rock-Tenn, Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, and Eagle Distributing.
