Henley Bridge Week Six Progress
Henley Bridge Project
View Web Cams
February 11, 2011 - Demolition work continues on both ends of the bridge.

Operations on the north end are still occurring during the nighttime hours but should start to diminish soon.

The contractor is mobilizing equipment to commence the actual dismantling of the bridge deck. This process utilizes measures that will be less noise invasive and should mitigate a lot of the inconveniences encountered by the neighboring businesses and residents.

Henley Street Bridge ProjectConstruction of one of the support structures on the bridge's south approach end began this week, and they expect to start pouring concrete there on Monday.

Utility modifications in the intersections of Henley/Hill and Chapman/Blount will continue next week but will occur only during nighttime hours.

Please watch for lane closures in these areas if you utilize these routes.

Specialized signal equipment has been installed at various intersections along Gay Street and Blount Avenue to allow emergency vehicles to quickly access the South Knoxville area across the river.

The timing studies and signal modifications are complete at the various intersections along Gay Street. This should allow a more efficient traffic flow along this route. These studies and adjustments are expected to be complete by the end of February for the remaining affected locations.
