September 15, 2010 - People looking for a low-impact way to get fit can enjoy the City's new Walking Program at Victor Ashe Park, located at 4901 Bradshaw Rd.

Hosted by Knoxville Parks and Recreation's West Haven Recreation Center, the 10-week program will be held Wednesdays and Fridays from 7:45 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. from September 15-November 19, 2010. The purpose of the program is to help walkers increase and build personal physical activity.

On Fridays, a Knox County Health Department professional will be on site to give heart health tips and Earthfare will provide healthy snacks at several of the walks. Walkers that do the overall program will be entered to win door prizes. All that participate will receive their own pedometer.

The walking program is open to everyone, and strollers are permitted. Registration is $5. Please call 865-546-1315 to register.
