Community Development Develops Annual Action Plan
Public Meeting Set for April 14
Community Development
Draft 2009-2010 Action Plan [PDF]
March 18, 2009 - The City of Knoxville’s Community Development Department is developing the Annual Action Plan for use of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnerships Act, and Emergency Shelter Grant (ESG) funds during the fiscal year that begins July 1, 2009. A draft of the plan is available on the City’s website.

At this time, the City of Knoxville has not been notified by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) of the amount of funds allocated for fiscal year 2009. The amounts listed below are an estimate and subject to change pending notification by HUD. Based on last year’s allocation, the City anticipates receiving approximately $1,900,000 in CDBG, approximately $1,300,000 in HOME, and approximately $12,000 in American Dream Downpayment Initiative (ADDI) from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The City has been notified that it can expect to receive $82,740 in ESG funds. The City also anticipates receiving $450,000 in combined CDBG and HOME program income, and will reallocate $500,000 in unspent prior year HOME funding.

The City of Knoxville encourages citizen comment on the draft action plan. Copies may be examined beginning March 18th at the following locations: City of Knoxville Community Development Department, 5th floor, City-County Building; Lawson-McGhee branch of the Knox County Public Library; the main office of the Knoxville-Knox County Community Action Committee at 2247 Western Avenue; the East Neighborhood Center at 4200 Asheville Hwy; and the South Neighborhood Center at 522 Old Maryville Pike. Citizens may also obtain a copy of the draft plan online at www.cityofknoxville.org/development or by calling 865-215-2120

A public meeting to obtain comments on the draft action plan will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday April 14, 2009 in the community room at the Charles W. Cansler YMCA (616 Jessamine St.). Box 1631, Knoxville, TN 37901. All comments must be received no later than April 17, 2009.
