First Friday Downtown Filled with Events
December 4, 2008 - Downtown Knoxville will be booming with activities this Friday night, December 5th. In addition to the Christmas Parade, Market Square and other downtown businesses will be hosting First Friday. This event takes place on the first Friday of every month and offers a variety of venues such as art openings, performances, and food and drink specials.

A new event this year is a block party on the 100 block of Gay Street. The party will begin right after the Christmas Parade, from approximately 8:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. There will be entertainment, free marshmallow roasting and other concessions. Santa will available for photo opportunities at 119 S. Gay Street.

Free parking is available in city parking facilities downtown, including the Market Square Garage, Locust Street Garage and State Street Garage after 6 p.m. and on weekends.
