City Seeks Comments on 2009 Action Plan
December 3, 2008 - The City of Knoxville’s Community Development Department is seeking public comment in order to develop its 2009 Action Plan.

The department will hold a public meeting at 5:30 p.m. Monday, December 8, at the Charles W. Cansler YMCA, 616 Jessamine Street at the intersection of Fifth Avenue in East Knoxville.

City residents are urged to attend the meeting and share their views and observations on housing, neighborhoods, jobs, social services, public infrastructure, homelessness, and other community needs and issues.

The public input will guide the department as it develops the annual Action Plan, which will outline how the city will spend anticipated federal funds from various programs -- Community Development Block Grants, HOME (affordable housing) and Emergency Shelter Grants (homeless services).

The plan will include projects and activities the city will perform from July 2009-June 2010 to address the housing, infrastructure service and other community needs identified in the 2005-2009 Consolidated Plan.

Comments or questions may also be directed to Becky Wade at (865) 215-2120 or e-mail bwade@cityofknoxville.org.
