The City of Knoxville is offering free parking in two downtown garages to celebrate the University of Tennesseeís home football opener on, Saturday, September 13.
We encourage football fans and fans of downtown to arrive early and stay late to take advantage of all downtown has to offer. From the Old City to Gay Street to Market Square, downtown is a great place to eat, drink, shop and be entertained, both before and after the game.
Parking will be free in the State Street Garage (between Central Avenue and State Street with additional entrances on Clinch Avenue and Union Avenue) and Market Square Garage (just west of Market Square with entrances on Wall Street and Walnut Street) on Saturday for UTís game with the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Normal game day parking rates will resume for the next home game, against the University of Florida, on September 20.
If you don't make it downtown early enough to get a spot in one of the free garages, please check out the convenient paid parking opportunities in the other City and County-owned parking garages, including the Locust Street Garage, the Main Avenue Garage, the Dwight Kessel Garage, the Poplar Street Lot and the garage at the City-County Building.
Anyone can take KAT's football shuttles to and from Neyland Stadium. For more information about downtown shuttle stop locations and prices, see http://www.cityofknoxville.org/kat.
