| Boomsday Set for Sunday, August 31st |
August 20, 2008 -
The Labor Day holiday
constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to
the strength, prosperity and well being of the United States. What a better way
to celebrate than by enjoying the nation’s largest Labor Day weekend fireworks
show, right here in Knoxville!
The 21st annual 2008 Chrysler Jeep Boomsday Festival is here once
again, set for Sunday, Aug. 31 from noon – 10 p.m. on Neyland Drive and Volunteer Landing in downtown
Knoxville.
So, what’s new? The Chrysler Jeep Boomsday Festival traditions like a petting zoo, inflatables and
games for the children will still be available, but this year’s festival is keeping up with the times by supporting
the American soldiers at the Southern Shores “Salute to the Troops.”
Also new this year is the MasterCraft/American Boat Center’s Rail Jam Demos, in which Neyland will
be transformed into a man-made 30-foot wide and 200-foot long water track where professional wake boarders
will skim across the water attempting jumps and turns at 18-22 miles per hour. The jams begin at noon and
will continue throughout the afternoon.
Then, at 9:30 p.m., watch the nation’s largest Labor Day weekend fireworks show along with an
original soundtrack provided by Star 102 FM.

will provide viewers with a whole new, spectacular look of the fireworks show.
Admission to the 2008 Chrysler Jeep Boomsday Festival is free to the public with nominal fees for
parking, games, food and beverage. WBIR-TV Channel 10, will air the fireworks display in its entirety during a
special one-hour live broadcast from 9-10 p.m. on August 31 and will rebroadcast on Monday, Sept. 1 at 7 p.m.
on 10 News 2.
