January 7, 2008 - The Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration Commission invites you to honor the life of Martin Luther King, Jr. and the achievements of MLK Honorees at the 2008 King Week Celebration January 16th through the 21st.

Martin Luther King, Jr.This year's theme is "Stand Tall."

January 17 8:30 AM Leadership/Diversity Symposium at the Knoxville Marriott. A single $35 ticket covers both the Jan. 17 symposium and luncheon.
January 17 NOON Leadership/Diversity Awards Luncheon at Knoxville Marriott Hotel with keynote speaker Rev. Dr. Forrest E. Harris, Sr., President American Baptist College of Nashville, Tennessee. A single $35 ticket covers both the Jan. 17 symposium and luncheon.
January 18 11:30 AM Groundbreaking ceremony for TVA and Knoxville's Habitat for Humanity. TBA.
January 18 7 PM Panel discussion, "The Cost of Militarism to Our Community" at the Beck Cultural Exchange Center, 1927 Dandridge Avenue. Lead sponsor Oak Ridge Environmental Peace Alliance.

January 21 8:30-10 AM Memorial March (Parade) Line-up & Step-off at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church.
January 21 11:45 AM Memorial Tribute Service at Greater Warner Tabernacle AME Zion Church with keynote speaker Rev. Dr. Renita J. Weems, nationally-renowned theologian and ordained elder in the African Methodist Church.
January 21 6 PM Holiday Celebration Concert at the Knoxville Civic Auditorium.
